A Letter From Our President and Co-Founder
A letter from our president and co-founder,
It’s hard to express in words what many of us are feeling as we watch the hate and violence that have risen in our community. Whether you’ve experienced racism as a part of your everyday or whether you’ve only known it to be something that affects other people, and other communities there is no denying it’s ugly presence here and now.
But even as we are seeing proof that inequality is far too real, we are hearing the mighty rumble of change. As our communal eyes open, so too have the hearts and minds of the people in our great city as they rush to support and care for each other. We are hearing the sounds of our young people as they cry out for the change we so desperately need. This huge rumble that is shaking our country is causing it’s people to stop and reach for each other in solidarity.
My hope is that we always feel that rumble in our hearts; that it stays loud and clear so that we don’t forget the tragic death of George Floyd and the response his death incited. I know that my heart will feel the reverberations forever, and that I will continue to stand with those who seek equality and inclusion. I personally stand with the black community and promise that Katapult will be a part of the movement for change. In the words of Maya Angelou, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better”.
